So you thought The Netherlands were that little tolerant country? Think again… Yesterday 400 refugees from Africa died when their boat sank in the Mediterranean Sea between Lybia and Italy. This horrific news gave some (well, not really some…) people in the Netherlands a reason to ecstatically fulminate their joy about the death of these refugees. Not between friends, but out in the open on Facebook. For your and of course our pleasure, we’ve selected a few of these people and their facebook profiles.
Sylvia Antonissen, hailing from the picturesque town of Sint Willebrord:
“…Hi there , I’m Sylvia Antonissen from St. Willebrord. I love the music of Frans Duijts and Grant & Forsyth. Apart from that it really makes me laugh and nearly pee my pants when 400 people die. ‘That is the way they all should go!! smiley smiley smiley’…”
Martinus Zuiderwijk from Vlaardingen is happy as a pig in shit:
“…Hi, my name is Martinus Zuiderwijk from Vlaardingen. I love to play Farm Heroes Saga and I really love Milka en Haribo, omnomnomnom. But wait, if you really want to cheer me up, please inform me of any refugees drowning, because that really makes my day! ‘Good riddance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1′…”
Jeroen Wiebrecht from Spijkenisse is going to party like it’s 1999!
“…Hi, my name is Jeroen, I’m studying very hard to get my degree in ‘operating large vehicles’ My motto in life is ‘Born to be Wild’ but that’s only for me. If you are a refugee you don’t deserve anything to live for: ‘Terminatet… Wipet out.’…”
And also Roel van Leussen from the eastern part of the Netherlands is ecstatic:
“…Hi, I’m Roel van Leussen from Hardenberg. Married to Elly, truck driver at MTT and I really enjoy listening to Sky Radio station. I think America’s Funniest Home Videos is so incredibly funny I almost die laughing. Besides that, you can do me no greater pleasure than tell me about people dying. Well, not just “normal people” , but Boat People! Like those 400 who recently drowned? Far from enough! Die, die, die, they should! Well done! It’s a start…”
These facebook profiles have been sourced from facebook fan pages like “PVV aanhangers” and “Nederland mijn Vaderland“. The PVV, with their leader Geert Wilders, is a right wing populist political party (not when it concerns economics however) and the people from “Nederland mijn Vaderland” are just plain idiots (“Nederland mijn Vaderland” is translated in English as Netherlands my Fatherland/Homeland/Motherland).
Vandaar.
At first, I did not understand a sack there from. But now that uncle ass has translated it, it’s as ready as a little lump to me!
I is happy the boat people is dead because else has we must buy 400 gladiols
So … are we supposed to repeat yesterdays (utterly brilliant, thank you very much) comment thread in English here? Dang.
All right, here goes: something with Desie and Casie and a clever retort picturing the Boer Brothers.
I’ll join Napster (how 90s of me): Could someone just fake a news story on the death of right-wing-idiot voters and post it to this facebook page. Just to see how the party crowd will react to that?
Oh, addition for the foreign readers: NmV isn’t just a very nationalistic title for a facebook page.

Yes, that’s right, it’s a campaign slogan of the Dutch Nazi’s from before and during WWII.
Wondering if anybody on that FB-page is familiar with that, Ome Mc.
You’re right. They’re probably more familiar with this one:

But it’s still the same rethoric. And the same message: fear the “enemy”, defend the nation.
