ROTTERDAM – 18 March 2018 – The “Ministry of the Interior of the Russian Federation” has accidentally sent out a press release that Vladimir V. Putin has been re-elected as president of the Russian Federation.
In what seems to be an accident, the results of the Russian election of the 18th of March 2018, were sent out by the Russian government, hours before the last voting station will close. According the press release the attendance is relatively high, and with a little over 70% of the votes Vladimir Putin is re-elected for another 6 years minimum.
The sending out could have been a simple mistake, just as in recent years the deaths of famous people have been accidentally sent out, but this does fuel the consensus under a broad part of the audience observing the elections that they are rigged. The only serious challenger, Aleksei A. Navalny, was barred from running based on two recent convictions for illegal protesting, procedures and charges that are labeled by most as construed to prevent him from running.
